My goal is to ensure every Tillman Glass keeps its beauty and delivers an exceptional tasting experience for many years. Hand-blown glasses require gentler handling — but they reward you with the purest enjoyment of wine.
How to care for hand-blown glasses
Hand-blown glass is ultra-thin and lightweight. A few simple habits will greatly extend its lifespan: wash with lukewarm water, use gentle unscented detergents, polish with a seamless microfiber cloth, and store the glasses with enough space between them.
Each piece stays true to a minimalist design and thin walls — which is why gentle care and proper handling during service and storage are essential.
Washing & drying (recommended: by hand)
1) Hand wash: Lukewarm water + a few drops of a gentle, unscented detergent. Avoid abrasive sponges and brushes. Hold the bowl, not the stem.
2) Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any detergent residue (it can affect bubbles and aroma).
3) Drying: Let the glass drain upside down on a soft surface. Then finish with a seamless microfiber cloth — ideally two: one slightly damp for the exterior, the other dry for the final shine.
Tip: Before polishing, you can briefly expose the glass to warm steam (e.g., above hot water) — micro-droplets make streak-free polishing easier.
Dishwasher — yes, but wisely
We prefer hand washing. If you choose to use a dishwasher, select a low-temperature program (up to 45–50 °C), a gentle cycle, no extra drying cycle, and a mild unscented detergent without rinse aids. Place glasses securely so they do not touch or vibrate. After opening the door, let the steam escape and finish with a microfiber polish.

Storage & handling
Storage: Ideally store bowls upright (standing on the base), with gaps between each piece so they don’t touch. If storing upside down, only on a perfectly smooth, clean, and soft surface.
Handling: When serving, hold the glass by the lower part of the bowl or the foot, not by the thinnest part of the stem. Never twist in opposite directions on the bowl and stem while polishing.
Removing stains & limescale
Water & spots: Warm water + a drop of gentle detergent, then rinse and polish with microfiber.
Limescale: A short bath in warm water with a little vinegar (or citric acid), then rinse thoroughly and polish. Do not use abrasives.
Post-wash aroma: Let the bowl “breathe” for a few minutes, or rinse with clean water right before service.
Travel & gift packing
For travel, use rigid cardboard with reinforcements, or foam inserts or soft fabric “socks” around the bowl. Wrap each glass individually, keeping stems and bowls separated. For courier shipping, consider double-boxing with at least 4–5 cm of padding all around.
What to avoid
- Steel wool, abrasive sponges, and gritty detergents.
- Extreme temperatures (boiling water / thermal shock).
- Twisting polish where bowl and stem are held in opposite directions.
- Harsh perfumed detergents (they affect wine aroma).
- Tight “edge-to-edge” storage where glasses touch.
- Dishwashers with high-heat drying cycles.
